The War of the Golden Stool (Sika Dwa Kofi), also called the Yaa Asantewa War, the Third Ashanti Expedition, or the Ashanti Uprising, was the final war in between the British Imperial government of the Gold Coast and the Ashanti kingdom (Empire) of Ghana, which was sparked on the 25thof March 1900, by the Colonial Governor, Frederick M. Hodgson, when he demanded to sit on the Ashantis' sacred Golden Stool .
